What are the new possibilities for image making? Photogrammetry and 3-D scanning can produce precise replications in 360° models. Immersive virtual experiences can be developed or enhanced with these imaging techniques. Ultra-high definition images and texture mapping can help us learn and share new information about the objects we encounter.

You’ll get introductions and opportunities for hands-on practice in emerging technologies for image capturing and viewing experiences.

Workshops will take place 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. each day, with the afternoons open for further independent exploration and assistance.

Technologies: Photogrammetry, 360° images and video, 3-D imaging, 3-D printing, Virtual Reality, Reflectance Transformation Imaging – RTI (texture mapping), Macro imaging.

We will explore:
Photogrammetry: best practices for capturing and processing.

Introduction to 3D modeling techniques, especially preparing for 3-D printing.

Ricoh theta and Google cardboard: capturing spherical stills and video and making them accessible on Google cardboard.

Reflectance Transformation Imaging – RTI (texture mapping.)

High definition images with Gigamacro capture system.
